Khalif’s music defies categorization. He really has found his own voice. The funk is funky, the rock rocks, and the blues is real. One of the best blues players Chicago’s new generation of has to offer.

—- Rien Wisse Block Blues Magazine

What typifies Khalif’s guitar style: rhythmic, funky, explosive and extremely passionate. He follows the footsteps of his influences Otis Rush, Freddie King, and Albert Collins, but there are also clear influences of Prince and Santana with the off touch of Wes Mintgomery and Jenny Burrell. Khalif's music takes you into his world of voodoo. Weaving blues, funk, rock, into instrumental silk with long grooves in a jazzy atmosphere. She Put The Voodoo On Me will not let go and it will seduce you on the dance floor.

Khalif Wailin’ Walter’s music is straight undiluted heartfelt Chicago Blues. You can hear the passion and that he enjoys himself when he is playing. Keep your eyes out and your ears perked.

Khalif Wailin’ Walter is definitely a Chicago blues player. The man has the credentials and the talent to back it up. Listening to this cd you can tell the talent is there, the musicians are great, especially the feel, accent and tones. Walters best performances on this CD are the funkier blues tunes. The last song just reconfirms my notion that this group has the talent, style and tone to pull off something really great.

This CD, recorded in Germany, is my introduction to Khalif’s music and I must say that I love it. He comes on strong on all of the songs on the CD, all of which were written by him. He also did the arranging and the production of the CD.

The songs range from the Chicago boogie based Big Booty Woman, which needs no description to My Guitar And These Blues, which is as good an example of a controlled slow blues as you can wish. Reminds me of something Freddie King might have done with panache. The opener on the CD “Let Em In” comes with stinging guitar work, a fabulous bit of Hammond B3 Stax work and a stunningly good horn arrangement a la Albert King ‘s Stax period. Give this guy a listen!

Music-Style: Chicago-Blues, Gospel, Soul, Americana

Khalif "Wailin" Walter enriched Chicago's blues scene with his idiosyncratic style of boogie blues. Meanwhile, more at home in Europe, his music - thanks to his stormy guitar playing and his impetuous voice in the tradition of Freddy King, Albert King and Albert Collins - is world wide for this genre.

Born in Chicago, he is a guitarist, singer, bandleader and songwriter, and carries the torch as one of the new generation of musicians of the famous Blues Mecca. Khalif Wailin 'Walter's turbulent guitar work and outrageous New Orleans-style vocals create the band's traditional down-home sound reminiscent of blues greats such as Albert King, Freddie King and Albert Collins.

Its electrifying live show convinces organizers and audiences alike. Khalif Wailin 'Walter combines contemporary style and innovative, original arrangements with a keen sense for the roots and traditions of the Chicago Blues, delivering foot-stomping blues sound that sets the stage on fire!
